  16. This is a WarpOS clone of xpkGZIP.library found at Aminet:util/pack/xpkGZIP.lha
  17. It behaves 100% identical to xpkGZIP 1.1 (68k). I bumped version number
  18. to 2.0 as this is module is a great improvement for WarpOS.

  20. Compression ratios:
  21.  * 30% to 35% with binary files.
  22.  * 70% to >80% (!!) with text files.
  23. Test yourself with xBench.

  25. Packing speed (with a CyberstormPPC 604e/200 and 060/50):
  26. Between 310 kb/s (best mode) and 750 kB/s (fastest mode).

  28. Unpacking speed is about 4.8 MB/s !!

  30. The PPC port of GZIP is much faster than the BZP2-WOS module although it has
  31. about the same compression ratios !!.

  33. Remember: This is for WarpOS only !! No PowerUP module available.
